About the Association

The Glenwood Golf Association is gearing up for another great year of events. As a member you have many opportunities to play in a variety of event formats. Officers elected at the Fall 2011 business meeting included:

Membership Details

The deadline for membership renewals is March 1st. The Association expanded special offers to attract new members. Dues for the 2012 season are:

  • Membership Renewal — $100 (2011 GGA Members — Deadline March 1st)
  • New Member — $90 (Applications available in Pro Shop)
  • Super Senior Member — $90 (Ages 65 and Over)
  • Student Member — $50 (Fulltime student, ages 18-25)
  • Junior Member — $25 (Ages 17 and under)
  • Half Year Member — $60 (Only after July 1st)
  • Handicap Only — $40 (Use of handicap system only)

Important Announcements

The VSGA contracted with GHIN as its handicapping service vendor for 2012. The 2012 posting season for the Virginia Handicap Program begins March 1. Association members are reminded to post all scores. Officers reserve the right to post an even par 71 as a substitute for unposted scores.



Seeking New Members

To increase membership numbers for 2012, the Association offered incentive discounts: a $10 discount on first-year dues for new members (not members in 2011) and a $10 rebate on renewals for each referral of a new member who joins in 2012 (exclusions apply).

New Super Senior category: Annual dues for new or returning Super Seniors (age 65 and over prior to March 1, 2012) are $90.

2012 Calendar of Events

If you cannot make it to the course to sign up for events, call the Pro Shop and we will sign you up.



  • February 26th: Ice-Breaker Scramble — Sign up individually. 4-man teams paired by computer. Your 2009 dues must be paid by this date to play.
  • March 18th: 4-Man Best-Ball Gross — Sign up individually. Two best scores on each hole counted. No handicaps.
  • April 1st: 2-Man Scramble; April 28th-29th: Dan Riggs Memorial Spring Handicap — Individual competition, 36 holes, net and gross prizes, trophies for overall winners.
  • May 20th: Emmett Holloway Memorial Member-Member — Select your own partner. Best-ball. Gross and net prizes.
  • June: 3rd: 4-Man Best-Ball Handicap; 6th: Spring Business Meeting — Glenwood Clubhouse, 7:30pm; 24th: Alternate Shot Tournament.
  • July 14th–15th: Member-Guest — Entry Fee $80 per team (green/cart fees not included). 36 holes; July 29th: Summer Handicap.
  • August 19th: Senior Club Championship — Entrants must be 50+. Super Senior division for 65+. Play from Senior (White) tees.
  • September 8th–9th: Club Championship — 36 holes, field pre-flighted by handicap; September 30th: Nelson Broach Memorial Invitational — $30 per team, one-day two-man better-ball.
  • October 3rd: Fall Business Meeting; October 18th: 4-Man Blitz — Stableford point system.
  • November 4th: Chili Bowl Tournament — Format TBD. Annual awards and chili/beverages for participants.
